Don't Panic.
Am I having a seizure? Follow these steps:
Stay calm. Call for help.
Clear the area of obstacles.
Turn me on my side (recovery position).
Do not hold me down.
Do NOT put anything in my mouth. My tongue will be fine.
Place something soft under my head.
Avoid relocating me unless absolutely necessary.
Stay with me until the seizure ends naturally and I'm fully awake.
If this takes more than 8 minutes, call 911.
Is the seizure done? Follow these steps:
Offer water, reassuring words, and somewhere shaded to lay/sit.
I'll be confused and scared, and won't be reasoned with:
Avoid violence/force. I'll respond in kind without meaning to.
I dislike police, and won't trust them in this state.
Try: "You had a seizure. Michelle is coming."
Try: Being reassuring. "It'll be alright, I'm here to help", "Don't worry, paramedics are coming", "Would you like to hold my hand?" etc.
Try: A stern tone as a last resort.
